coaching FAQs

What is executive coaching?

Professional leadership coaching is a partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. It encourages creative thought and introspection. A coach helps a client identify internal as well as external obstacles. It is a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires clients to maximize their personal and professional potential and performance.

Why is the demand for coaches growing?

As most companies are tightening their belts, they seek better results with fewer resources. Coaching has become a significant trend in leadership development because it delivers results by increasing effectiveness and empowering employees.

Are the benefits measurable?

Results from the 2009 ICF Global Coaching Client Study, found that companies that use or have used professional coaching for business reasons have seen a median return on investment of seven times their initial investment. Individual clients reported a median return on investment of 3.44 times their investment. Click here for more details.

What are some typical reasons someone might work with a coach?

There are many reasons that an individual or team might choose to work with a coach, including but not limited to the following:
  • There is something at stake (a challenge, stretch goal, or opportunity)
  • There is a gap in knowledge, skills, confidence, or resources
  • There is a desire to accelerate results
  • There is a lack of clarity, and there are choices to be made
  • Work and life are out of balance, and this is creating unwanted consequences
  • The client has not identified his or her core strengths and how best to leverage them

Why choose a coach who is a member of the International Coach Federation?

An ICF credentialed coach has completed stringent education and experience requirements and has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in coaching. They have fulfilled coach specific training, achieved a designated number of experience hours, and have worked with a Mentor Coach.
